Michael Ignatieff: Unelected. Undemocratic. UnCanadian

December 10th, 2008

Michael Ignatieff has finally maneuvered himself to assume the leadership of the Liberal Party without having to bother with the backing of rank-and-file Liberal Party members – a process much too chaotic and messy for such an esteemed professor.  Afterall, who can deign pass judgement on such a towering intellect? Certainly not average Canadians or ordinary members.  It would seem that Michael Ignatieff thinks that mere members should close their mouths and open their wallets and leave the decision-making to his cadre of inner-circle cronies.

Once the charade of the “leadership race” is finalized – and Michael Ignatieff is crowned the new leader of the Liberal Party, he will be poised to overturn the results of the last federal election and install the unelected Liberal-NDP-Bloc coalition into power.  We see now how Michael Ignatieff works; he uses backroom power brokers from Ottawa to bypass a proper leadership race in his own party, and then uses other backroom power brokers to install an unelected coalition and bypass the results of proper elections in Canada.

In the last election, the Liberal Party received its lowest vote share in almost a century, had its number of seats reduced to near-record lows, and was plunged into disarray as they scurried to concoct ways to heave their elected leader overboard in order to appoint a new one.  Their desperation, and craven haste for power led them to make secret deals with socialists and separatists just for a chance at snatching power away from the duly elected government.  This is unCanadian.

Canadians know better than this, and they won’t stand for it either.  The unelected Liberal-NDP-Bloc coalition was rebuked by protests from everyday Canadians across the country last weekend, and yet the unelected coalition continues to try and scheme their way into power.

If you think it is wrong for Michael Ignatieff to install his unelected leadership at the helm of the undemocratic Liberal-NDP-Bloc coalition, and that it is unCanadian to overturn election results, then sign the petition above and make your voice heard!

Doing Politics Differently?

December 9th, 2008

It can now be accurately said that the unelected Liberal-NDP-Bloc coalition is an undemocratic body trying to overturn the results of the most recent federal election.  Now, the unelected coalition is regrouping after being soundly rebuked by Canadians across the country when angry and dismayed voters turned out in the tens of thousands to speak out against the unelected coalition.

The unelected Liberal-NDP-Bloc coalition was formed as the result of secret backroom deals between power brokers in Ottawa.  Stephane Dion was quickly thrown under the bus by his own party, and in their craven haste, the Liberals threw their own constitution out with him.

Another secret backroom deal between power brokers has been orchestrated that will see Michael Ignatieff installed as leader of the Liberal Party and as the new head of the unelected Liberal-NDP-Bloc coalition.

No consultations with members.  No input from voters.  No say.  No fuss.

The Liberal Party’s own constitution spells out clearly that a new leader must be selected by a vote of delegates at a national leadership convention.  So, we are told, when the Liberal Party ignores its own constitutional rules, and its own members, it is a victory for democracy.  Is this what they have more of in mind for Canada when they impose their unelected Liberal-NDP-Bloc coalition upon the rest of Canada?

If you think elections matter, and backroom deals among power brokers in Ottawa is no way to select a government, then sign the petition below and make your voice heard!

Liberal Party Install New Leader, Prepare to Install Unelected Coalition

December 9th, 2008

As the unelected Liberal-NDP-Bloc coalition finds itself mired in leadership contests, the party responsible for creating this unelected pact has opted to reinforce their undemocratic roots by simply installing a new leader without having the bother of seeking input from rank-and-file members.  Instead, power brokers from Ottawa will meet behind closed doors and make arrangements to simply crown Michael Ignatieff the new leader of the Liberal Party.

Why should this matter to Canadians?  Because Michael Ignatieff is on record as saying he wants to see the party members engaged in a vigorous and open debate about the future of the Liberal Party.  Now it seems he may not have been entirely genuine in these concerns.

So now, the unelected leader of the Liberal Party, installed by backroom deals, is preparing to assume control of the unelected Liberal-NDP-Bloc coalition – the same unelected coalition trying to overturn the results of open elections and impose its rule on Canada.

Is this what Canadians want?  Backroom deals cooked up by power brokers from Ottawa deciding who will govern?  Or do Canadians rightly expect that their votes count, and the results of open elections should be respected by those we voted for?  If you think elections matter, and that your vote counts for something, then sign the petition above and make your voice heard!
